And on this page I’m going to put all the things that aren’t prints or services like zines, and claw machines.

Zines.

It’s literature.

Backyard Studios:
The Zine.

YXE Backyard Studios: The Zine is a fun black and white booklet magazine put together by me, Jeni Ly.

The plan was to have one zine per season to a total of four zines. The Zine started as a response to feeling overwhelmed by the digital world. The goal was to make zines, give them away, and reconnect with paper and people.

However, the funny thing about being disconnected is the lack of insight. As I was getting ready to start my first issue, I really was missing the forest for the trees.

Part of me didn’t want to pick up scissors, or to cut paper, or deal with the mess of glue, so I took to the computer to make my first analog zine (AI surveillance play Ironic by Alanis Morrisette).

Currently, I finished my fifth zine with intentions on the sixth. The fifth zine is made completely without the internet (and very little glue or cutting), which, is harder than you think.

All my software requires the internet, I was using internet references, hosting photos I took online, and sending my pdfs to the printer for printing. The last issue is completely analog! I walked it up to the printer with a stack of paper. As of today, April 8th, it is still in queue for printing but, here I sit, fingers crossed!

If you’re here and you’ve read this far, think about buying my zines to help offset printing costs!

I’d much rather sell in person just because it’s easier for me. Plus, you can check out the studio! Or, I can put one in my mailbox and you can etransfer me via Email jennyply at gmail dot com

OR maybe I’ll have figured out how to make an online store function. Thanks for being here :)

Set of 4 Zines
$20.00

One copy of all 4 zines for $20.
Shipping and taxes included.

Each zine has original non-AI generated content, that was made with the purpose of reconnecting you back to yourself and the analog world. Each zine features unique games, articles, and features meant to keep you off the digital realm for a few minutes.

It’s a whole new world, I get it. But our old world was good too. <3

Have a listen to my CBC morning live radio interview from March 2, 2026! We have a ten minute chat about my zine.

Takey Takey Prize Machine

because it’s fun.

We built Takey Takey Prize Machine because who doesn’t want to win prizes? She has a catchy little tune and was in Nuit Blanche 2023 and saw up to 800 people!

Build it.

Building things is fun for us. We love the process of planning and working out logistics to make things work. Takey takey fits through a standard door, comes apart in two pieces (top and bottom) and can be put into the back of a standard truck bed. It also is on wheels so we can move it around easily.

Inside the booth, a man is working with electronic equipment, wearing glasses and a dark jacket. The background shows a suburban neighborhood with houses, trees, and parked cars on a sunny day.
