It doesn’t have to make sense.

In 2024, we made our YXE Backyard studios “heckin’ big” printmaking rollers dubbed “Long Gurl” and “Big Boy” in pursuit of our dreams to make big prints to go with the big skies we see here on the prairies. The coloured blends are easy on the eyes but less easy to capture onto paper, especially as big as our hearts want.

Life is short. Build the life you want with things you love. We have built queen sized outdoor swing beds, giant pencil lean-to’s, outdoor season spaces, beautiful custom furniture from locally sourced trees cut at local mills. We have built signs, games, and so much more. Talk to us about your ideas. We’d love to hear them and help make them a reality. While waiting to hear from others, we work on our own passion projects.

Printmaking Innovations for Custom Prints

A man rolling out a large sheet of material, possibly vinyl or paper, on a worktable in a workshop. A woman is visible in the background, smiling and taking a photo.

Long Gurl is 42 inches long!

After six months of dedicated research, acquiring parts, and collaborating with subcontractors, we finally received our rollers and were eager to get started! Yet, we faced the challenge of limited space and storage. Through perseverance and strategic planning, we designed and built a mobile roller caddy that stores 14 rollers while doubling as a working surface, transforming obstacles into opportunities for innovation and creativity!

Our latest work is a sky and landscape series study. We create clouds or landscapes and change the colours within the print reminiscent of how colours change with seasons and daylight in nature. We’ll be exhibiting in August 2025 with the Saskatchewan Craft Council! A more specific date to folllow.
