Where Hell Started

for those who like to know the why of it all

HELL: the comic is an inside look into HELL as a place that we create for ourselves as individuals, and as a systemic structure where we all do things and interact.

HELL is the result of an attempt to formalize and fairly distribute goodness or restoration to a population that has become entitled and expectant while embracing a lack of accountability. But in HELL, you see ambiguity, fortitude, resilience and, where you gain an intimate reminder of why the pursuit of joy and connection is the answer and only way out.

In issue 4 of YXE Backyard Studios: the zine*, I drew a comic colouring page called Fresh Produce (shown below) which was my first adventure into comic strips as opposed to stream-of-consciousness comic art (as seen in my secret comic hidden on my website).

Fresh Produce showed me that I can draw a comic if I want. And so I started Real Nasty comics, the comic arm of my art practice (which includes textiles, knitted work, fine prints, and lots more!)
