A student technical manual
Waterless Lithography: A student technical manual is a technical manual for waterless lithography.
The manual consists of step by step instructions and photos to guide a new student through the process of waterless lithography; a safer printmaking method with readily available materials.
An online version of the text with accompanying video is also available for free use as it was made in partnership with Open Education Resources. Open education resources help people access high-quality academic resources to support their journey. Saskatchewan students can access free resources developed by faculty members at Saskatchewan post-secondary institutions. Check it out at Saskoer.ca
We will also offer our own YXE Backyard Studios version since we developed all the material anyway. Soon to come!

What in the Hell?
What in the Hell? is a 170-page digitally hand-drawn graphic novel that features sexy demon hotdogs in a nonreligious Hell and through fantasy, humour, and visual metaphor to explore workplace trauma, institutional power, depersonalization, while referencing the innate calling to retain individual identity within large bureaucratic systems.
In the graphic sexy demonic hotdogs work within a non-religious Hell. In this world, Hell is not a place of eternal punishment, but a metaphor for the experience of working within large institutions designed to provide essential services. The real-world setting is never explicitly identified, but the primary inspiration is not hidden.
My approach is informed by manga, comics, and illustration. In particular, the work of Naoko Takeuchi, creator of Sailor Moon. Sailor Moon presents an iconic female protagonist who confronts evil alongside a team of Sailor Guardians. And in parallel to the real world, regardless of the scale and magnitude of threats; it is friendship, loyalty, and hope that remain central to any girl gang’s power to resist them.

The Zine.
YXE Backyard Studios: The Zine is a fun black and white booklet magazine put together by me, Jeni Ly.
The plan was to have one zine per season to a total of four zines. The Zine started as a response to feeling overwhelmed by the digital world. The goal was to make zines, give them away, and reconnect with paper and people.
However, the funny thing about being disconnected is the lack of insight. As I was getting ready to start my first issue, I really was missing the forest for the trees.
Part of me didn’t want to pick up scissors, or to cut paper, or deal with the mess of glue, so I took to the computer to make my first analog zine (AI surveillance play Ironic by Alanis Morrisette).
Currently, I finished my fifth zine with intentions on the sixth. The fifth zine is made completely without the internet (and very little glue or cutting), which, is harder than you think.
All my software requires the internet, I was using internet references, hosting photos I took online, and sending my pdfs to the printer for printing. The last issue is completely analog! I walked it up to the printer with a stack of paper. As of today, April 8th, it is still in queue for printing but, here I sit, fingers crossed!
